AIM-AHEAD AIHEC Amaze, Master, Catalyze (AMC) Program

Purpose

The AIHEC-Aware, Master, Catalyze (AMC) Program aims to equip learners with comprehensive knowledge and essential skills related to AI in healthcare. This program provides tribal college faculty and staff with the insights needed to critically understand AI trends, evaluate AI-enabled opportunities to enhance health outcomes, develop implementation strategies, and disseminate AI knowledge in their organizations, communities, and classes.

The AMC program is designed to meet the needs of staff, faculty, and professionals from Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCU). AMC’s learning objectives are the following:

  • Build a solid foundation in AI concepts, techniques, and tools relevant to the healthcare industry, including machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing.
  • Gain proficiency with appropriate AI tools that can be applied in different healthcare contexts and applications.
  • Apply AI-based clinical decision support tools to effectively improve health.
  • Apply AI knowledge to implement projects that improve health care and benefit patients and healthcare organizations.
    Translate AI knowledge into pedagogical topics, modules, courses, and extracurricular activities for broader impacts.

Developed by world-class faculty, the program infuses cutting-edge knowledge of AI applications to the healthcare ecosystem into a dynamic, immersing learning environment. The program is composed of three major components: (1) A one-hour webinar to raise Awareness of AI/ML opportunities to address health challenges (2) 6-week online programs for Mastering AI and Health concepts; and (3) a one-day in-person workshop for catalyzing the learning. The content is customized for application to American Indian/Alaskan Native (AI/AN) health.

Participants

Designed for working academic professionals, AMC combines self-paced videos and live synchronous sessions. The program offers abundant hands-on exercises in the Google Colab environment, where participants without coding skills can apply AI concepts.
